This expedition style Wayag tour is for the truly adventurous traveler who is not looking for comfort but adventure. An Expedition with unforgettable memories, so close to nature and so far from civilization.
Wayag Islands is located in the northwestern part and is very remote. The distance to Wayag is approximately 150 km (4 hours) by boat and the sea can sometimes be rough during the last part. Sometimes the days need to be rescheduled due to weather conditions and there for Wayag is not accessible. The months of June till September are the most likely to experience bad weather and bigger waves. So make sure your schedule is flexible to visit Wayag. We recommend adding a couple of days for this expedition. Best is to combine it with the 3D2N island hopping tour.
Our journey start in Waisai and goes through the Kabui Bay and through the Selat Kabui Passage. The western part of Waigeo is a protected nature reserve and very sparsely populated with a few "kampungs", small villages with a single home stay and in the north-western part there are no homstays. The last "kampung" we encounter is still 1.5 hours by boat from Wayag, you are entering the uninhabited world here.
We will therefore camp for 1 night on the beach at Wayag island with a small tent in the middle of nature, of course without facilities for toilet or shower. It might not be your best night's sleep ever, but unforgettable, It may not be your best night's sleep ever, but it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience, back to nature.
On your night in Wayag Island, our team will prepare a meal for you on the beach, a delicious dish with local flavors. This night you will see starry skies you have never seen before.
On Wayag islands we will climb 2 hills, Puncak 1 and Puncak 2, where you have a beautiful view over the lagoon. When you wish we bring a canoe you can experience some paddling in the lagoon, snorkel in the crystal clear waters and relax on the beach.
On the east side of the island there is a registration post for visitors and shark point. Here you have the opportunity to swim with sharks. There are a lot of reef sharks, but don't be afraid to take a dip here.
On the way back we will sleep at a home stay in the western archipelago of Waigeo, where we will have the opportunity to explore Aljui bay and the surroundings of the western part of Wagio.

Accommodation
You will overnight in a home stay and with a bit of luck we eat lobster at the homestay. The other night we will Camping ad Wayag island. Please note that there are no facilities in Wayag. If you don't like camping, we can stay in the home stay for 2 nights, but then you only have 1 day to visit Wayag.
There is no upgraded accommodation available for this tour as it is remote, and there are no resorts close by, it's takes at least 4 to 5 hours by boat.
